SIH today announced the appointment of Kevin Doherty in the position of Scottish National Training Program (SNTP) Head Coach.

Kevin will be working alongside the SIH Coaching Program Director Jim Watson and SIH Senior Instructor Alan Anderson to develop the newly formed SNTP.

The SNTP will be responsible for developing the Scottish National Teams from U11 to U19 along with the overall development of ice hockey in Scotland.

One of the first projects the SNTP will be to host the SNTP Great Britain U18 and U20 Evaluation Camp in August.

Notice of Coaching Positions with S.I.H. Conference and Under 19 Team Pools for 2008

The Scottish Ice Hockey Programme is looking for coaches and assistant coaches for the following teams:

Conference Team Pools and the Under/19 National Team Pool
Scotland Under/11s
Scotland Under/13s
Scotland Under/15s
Scotland Under/17s

Successful candidates will work as part of the National Team Coaching Programme under National Head Coach, Kevin Doherty, but be mainly responsible for their appointed age level.

Qualifications

  1. Applicants should hold a valid Level 2 Licence or above (or the equivalent) and be suitably experienced at the level applied for.
  2. Attendance at recent Coaching Development Clinics, Seminars, Schools, etc., where current coaching methodology, philosophy and developments have been presented would be advantageous.
  3. Have an awareness of the Physical Literacy required for their age level.

Role

  1. Actively coach at on-ice sessions which will be on a regular cycle of four to six weeks.
  2. Develop technical skills, tactical skills, hockey sense, team tactics, etc.
  3. Co-operate with on-ice goaltending coach.
  4. Co-operate and liaise with off-ice coach.
  5. Be available to travel to club games and practices to scout and evaluate players.
  6. Have a willingness to assist at other S.I.H. practices.

The current National Coaches have been asked to re-apply, all other coaches should apply sending a letter of application accompanied by a hockey C.V. to the S.I.H. Secretary, Jayne McGill, 33 Badger Park, Broxburn, West Lothian by Saturday the 21st of June 2008.

Referree Training Weekend (Dundee Ice Arena for the 30th & 31st August 2008)

This will be for all officials wishing to register for season 2008/09.
The weekend will comprise of classroom sessions, on ice training and a written exam at the end of the weekend.
The aim is for us to try to have our referees in line with other nations and it is important that this camp is a success!
All current referees are requested to attend

 

Referee Recruitment
